GOLDEN HOUR GROUNDED AT VIEW BOSTON

Golden Hour Grounded, Set Wave’s marquee summer event, featured a rooftop yoga and strength flow on the Observation deck at View Boston, located at the top of the Prudential Tower in Boston’s Back Bay. This was a standing-only series since mats are not able to be used on the deck. When participants arrived, with the help of a few supportive participants, they were given a swag bag, featuring elements to enhance the experience - a sunstone, essential oil - as well as giftees from brand partners (AG1, Ursa Major).

Although the series focuses on standing movement, I begin by inviting everyone to take a seat for a short grounding meditation. I encourage everyone to apply the oil, hold the stone, and take a moment to write a word, affirmation, or dedication for their practice. It’s a simple ritual that helps us arrive fully and set the tone for the evening. Together we connected to the breath, either counting inhales and exhales or practicing the mantra So Hum—“I am that”—to cultivate presence and remind us of our connection to something larger. Sometimes it is challenging to quiet the mind, especially in light of all the external stimulation and excitement that surrounds, and connecting to mantra helps us steady ourselves and drop into the moment.

From there, we kick off a standing flow rooted in strength, balance, and mobility. Moving through poses like High Lunge (with a few heat-building strength moments), several Warrior variations, and, to fully greet the setting sun — Goddess. There are moments of rotation, balance, and light cardio to release stagnant energy. Throughout the practice, I return to the theme of opening to space while staying grounded, encouraging participants to press into the four corners of their feet even as we reach upward into the sky. We’ve gotta have roots if we want to rise.

As the sun lowers, we return to stillness, reconnecting with our breath and intention, staying open to what may have changed for us throughout the practice. After class, participants are invited to stay, enjoy a drink (we celebrated an attendees birthday!), and take in the sunset together. Old friends reconnected and new connections were forged. A celebratory tequila shot was had to celebrate our friend’s next turn around the sun.

Above (!) all, we carried that grounded, expansive energy with us as golden hour faded into night. 🌇🧘‍♀️ Thank you to my brilliant creative friends Juan and Brendan for capturing such a beautiful evening (check out the video below!)
